Let's talk about peels...

Ever since I had my first glycolic acid peel I was addicted! What I didn't like was the price tag...they are in the $80 range. ::Yikes::
But because my skin needs to be whipped into shape due to hyper-pigmentation and reliving my teenage acne when I was pregnant with my daughter two years ago...I decided to go in search of the brightening peels you use at home. These products are little pads that you sweep across your face each night and they help to brighten your skin and fade hyper-pigmentation.

So let's talk about the three that I decided to try after doing tons of research and finding that they were the best reviewed…

Origins - Brighter By Nature™ High-Potency Brightening Peel with Fruit Acids
The Promise: This product retails for about $38.50 and it claims to be a high potency brightening peel with fruit acids.

The Review: My biggest complaint about this product is that when I used the pads it felt like I was literally brushing sandpaper with shards of glass all over your face. Not a nice feeling Origins! Unfortunately I didn't find this product to help much in the brightening department either. I know that it has great reviews across the board...but my skin hated it!
The verdict: Pass on it! Total waste of money.

St. Ives Scrub Free Exfoliating Pads
The Promise: This product retails for $5.49 and claims to be non-abrasive pads that will remove dead skin cells and renew skin to reveal a more youthful glow. This is mainly achieved by using fruit acids.

The Review: When I picked this product up I didn't have very high hopes for it, in general I'm not a huge fan of the brand but this was getting rave reviews. So I picked it up at Target. I love love love love (did I say LOVE?) this product! It’s gentle enough to use once a day (I used it in the evening) and it really improves the look of your skin. No joke...you'll wake up with an amazing glow!
The Verdict: Give it a try…at this price point you really can’t go wrong.

The Promise: This product retails for $25 and can only be bought at Avon.com or through a beauty representative. (Avon has special sales on this product throughout the year, such as buy one get one for $5...so keep your eyes peeled.) This product claims to be an at-home peel superior to a professional 35% glycolic peel.

The Review: As someone who used to get a 30% glycolic acid peel from my dermatologist…I can say that this product lives up to its promise! This peel is my favorite by far of all three. It improves the look and texture of your skin, it helps your other products absorb better, you’ll wake up in the morning with brighter skin and it does *wonders* to help fade hyper-pigmentation left over from acne spots.
The Verdict: Get it! Get it! Get it! Run as fast as you can to avon.com!

Just a day at work...

Elf Cosmetics: Love it, hate it, need it

So I know we all have mixed feelings about elf cosmetics...most of it is crap and a little bit of it is like finding gold!

I have tried numerous elf products just for the sake of trying them...so I know whats crap and whats not. The vast majority of their regular line is total-super-crap! *But* their studio line is where the occasional holy grail can be found.

Lets review...

Brushes from the essential line: Stay far far far far (did I say far?) away from the regular line...the ones that cost $1...yea, they cost $1 because they are total crap.

Total Face Brush

Studio Brushes: On the other hand the studio brushes are a super good buy at $3 each. They work great, they don't shed (at least mine haven't), and did I mention they are cheap!? Seriously ladies, I've bought Sephora brushes that turned into crap faster than the elf studio line!

Complexion Brush

Hypershine Lip Gloss: Just say NO! Unless you want a goopy sticky mess on your lips. I don't know who at Allure Magazine thinks this product should be a top-pick but whoever they are they need to be fired and banned from reviewing lip glosses forever!

Fairy

Baked Blushes: These are ahhhh-mazing! Run as fast as you can and buy them. These are from the studio line and they have the prettiest shimmer in them that is perfect for highlighting your cheek bones. And at $3 each you can't go wrong!

Baked Blush - Peachy Cheeky

Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder: Whoever things this is a dupe for Nars "Orgasm & Laguna" ....ummm, they need to have their eyes checked. Good color and pigmentation....but so not a dupe! For the love of god stop posting it on pinterest.

Eye Refresh: Does it feel good? Yes. Is it working? Probably not. But for a quick refreshing pick me up for your peepers this product is great.
