Etsy Finds...Family Signs

So lets start with my favorite place to shop...Etsy! Be still my heart!

I found this site about two years ago and if I could spend all day shopping from my pj's at home on this site...I would so do it. However, the only exercise I actually get is cardo when I shop....so I can't give up the brick and mortar stores just yet!

My personal home decorating style is shabby chic, meets country farm house, meets beach house with a tiny bit of French county thrown in for flavor. I hate hate hate paying full retail price for stuff that meets my requirements. I also hate hate hate checking out those super cute little hole in the wall stores where the cutest things have been hand picked from a french flea market only to find out that to pay for this super cute find I'd need to sell a kidney.

So when I found Etsy it was love at first sight!

Now, there are some things on Etsy that can be made at home by my super crafty skills and there are some questionable items...however, with a little keyword searching you can really find some amazing stuff.

Oh and while I'm at it...note to Etsy...you need to have periodic vendor shows where all the craftiness can come together in one location! I suggest you start in San Francisco.

So lets get started! Today's topic....Family Name Signs.

I've seen these around and they tend to be super expensive or you can't quite get the custom look you are looking for to match your homes decor. Etsy to the rescue!

Here are a few of my favorites...

This can be found for a steal for only $44 at SignsofaDaydreamer
Only $35 at Bosheree

Reds and blues

Crap-tastc Product of the Day: GlamGlow

Lets talk about the new beauty mask that's supposedly taking the beauty world by storm...it's called GlamGlow. (I used the word "supposedly" because I work in PR & Marketing and I know that 95% of what you read on a product or product's website is fluff and smoke that's only there to make you think you need to try the product).

What is it? Two types of mud masks, the Supermud Clearing Treatment and the Youthmud Tinglexfoliate. Both products are supposed to be an "easy to use skincare product specifically designed for immediate & instant camera ready skin." They also spout a ton of scientifically groundbreaking patent pending terms like: Bio-life-cell-science, Pore-matrix, Teaoxi, Aciecdic-6.

What does it do? The Supermud Clearing Treatment (the more popular of the two) claims to use activated-X charcoal which attracts toxic substances up to 500 times its volume and a special clay that extracts and encapsulates oils, bacteria and toxins from within your pores. You let it dry and when you wash it off you are left with "seemingly pore less skin."

Now that all the introductions have been taken care of lets gets down to the real business!

I was hearing a ton of info about this GlamGlow mud but when I found out it retails for $69 for 1.2 fl oz I wanted to make sure this stuff was going to perform the way they promised. On their website they offer a "Sample Sexy- try before you buy" sample set (2 small packets of both the Supermud Clearing Treatment and the Youthmud) for $11.99. I placed my order and waited for it to arrive in the mail.

And I waited...and waited...and waited...and waited some more. I checked me e-mail and all they had sent to me was an order confirmation...no shipping info or anything that would indicate they had sent my order. So I sent them an email with my order number and date of purchase and asked for more info. No response!

Almost two months had passed, I had sent two emails, left multiple voice mails on what appeared to sound like a home answering machine and still no one had responded to me!

Finally I decided to try calling again ready to leave a very rude voicemail. The phone rang and rang and rang and finally what sounded like a young man, who had either just woken up from a nap or just put down the bong, picked up the phone. I explained to him when I placed my order, the order number and how hard it had been to get ahold of someone. He didn't apologize, he didn't sound professional, and he wasn't very helpful. He said he'd write down my order number and "look in to it." Then he hung up. No "I'm really sorry about this", no refund, no nothing!!

About a week later my samples finally arrived in the mail and after all the hassle I was sure as heck ready to try these "groundbreaking patent-pending" masks out!

What happened next was horrendous...after I washed the mask off my face it made my skin sooooo dry and irritated I couldn't believe it...and I have what you'd call normal skin that isn't easily irritated. Upon further inspection in the mirror I realized that the patent-pending charcoal and super-special-fancy-pants clay actually made my pores more noticeable. I even tried this thing twice in one week just to make sure that the first try wasn't some sort of fluke...nope! I had the same reaction to the second use and to both mud masks.

I would recommend staying far far far away from anything made by GlamGlow. I personally have never had such a horrible experience not just with a product but also with customer service. I find their products to be crap and their customer service to be even worse than trying to order fast food from a drive through with a half broken speaker!
